Rebellions

There were problems in Upper Canada, especially Political. The setttelers were unhappy with the land distribution. The landlords were over priced. The setttelers were also unhappy beacuase the building and roadways hindered by the clergy and crwon reservres.  A man named William Lyon Mackenzie was a radical reformer with strong political convictions.  He published articles from the newspaper called The Colonial Advocate, which were very critical of the government and the Family Compact. The members of the Family Compact ransacked Machenzie's newspaper article, so Mackenzie sued them. In doing that, it put Mackaenzie in the centre of a group of people who want radical change in government. Mackenzie was elected a member of the Legislative Assembly in 1828and became a leader of the reform movement.
